Frameworks help you map out all aspects of a case on a moment’s notice and generate creative ideas that may not have occurred to you. This allows you to present solutions to your clients that they can then choose from.

Effective communication

Communication skills both in their oral and written forms are so important to have as a good event consultant. The ability to be a good speaker and effective presenter – eloquent and poised – with an extensive vocabulary, is key. 

An intuitive communicator makes clear, concise points. The ability to deliver a message either written or aloud is critical to being a good, successful event consultant.

Accountability

Simply put, this essentially means that you will do exactly what you said you were going to do, when you said you were going to do it. Sounds rather simple, doesn’t it? However, it’s the number one quality needed to build trust and credibility among your team and your clients. 

For instance, suppose you are in the beginning of your career. At this time especially, your team will lean on you for support in areas such as consulting work, taking notes, and organizing projects, and it is important for you to be able to do these tasks without errors, to the best of your ability. 

Make sure you keep your promises, keep up with your deadlines, be consistent in your quality, and master the basic skills in various software programs you will need. The more trust you build early on, the more opportunities you will be provided within the future, and the more your team can confide in you.

This is such a pivotal skill in consulting because one of the ways to build trust with clients is by producing error-free deliverables, which shows that we’re thorough and our recommendations are solid. A good consultant must produce a work product that is consistently flawless. Attention to align decor with brand and evaluating the attendees demographic with the venue of menu requires a grave awareness to detail, and good event consultants will be extra vigilant to these.

Being resourceful

In consulting, you will be asked to solve problems that may be completely new to you – or even to the industry.
