Nowadays, events cannot be boring, whether it’s decor, music, or food. All elements of your event need to be of quality and filled with excitement to score a win with your guests. The focus of this blog will be on the artistic side, so here are a few design ideas I have been loving lately and how to incorporate them into your event design with the appropriate creative expert.
Biophilic Event Design
Nature in events. What’s not to love about it? Having components like natural materials, abundant greenery, and natural light can elevate your event design to a whole new level. Incorporating these environmental elements into your design projects calmness and connectedness and can bring a relaxed environment to your event.
On the contrary, you can create a jungle theme, and its calming energy can be translated into a different nature experiences, which can leave the guests speechless or excited, depending on their personality.
Here are two options that I am loving, as it transports your guests to another dimension.
For example, Curated Walls is a local Vancouver-based business with some extraordinary pieces inspired by nature. Their beautiful prints easily transform a space into a stunning digital mural, making it the highlight of any event. Or try a living wall, at Green Over Gray or Greenscapes Design and Decor.
Additionally, I recommend checking out Dana Mooney, especially after her collaboration with Curated Walls. Her work is equally stunning and aligns perfectly with our preference for nature-inspired art.
Interactive Art-Focused Activities
No one wants a static event; you want your guests to move and interact. Hosting an interactive art exhibition is a fun way to achieve this. We did this at one of our events and it was a hit!!
Someone I really like is Alex Beim a well-known artist and designer in Vancouver who is famous for his interactive light installations and immersive experiences. I love his exhibition where guests use faux graffiti for digital interaction. It’s a fantastic way to express and connect with others. Definitely someone to consider for adding uniqueness to your next event!
Shapes and Emotions
How we view different shapes has a greater impact than you might think. Just like we would call a pointy shape ‘Kiki’ and a rounder shape ‘Bouba,’ the same could be said about an event. It’s all about the vibe. If the event has more rounded features, people would feel more at ease, relaxed, and safe, while sharper edges, like ‘Kiki,’ could have the opposite effect, causing uneasiness, bursts of energy like bouncing off the walls, and sometimes fear. It’s all about how you want your guests to feel.
It’s amazing how shapes can affect an event in such a certain way!
Designing for Belonging
Have you heard the news? This year is all about building connections, community, comfort, and wellness. There’s a reason why peach fuzz is the Pantone Colour of the Year. This year is all about belonging and feeling welcomed, especially after a few rough years and some challenges ahead now too. So, prioritizing self-soothing and well-being is what’s trending, and it’s only natural that this would reflect in events as well.
Incorporating interactive stations or workshops into your event is a must these days. It’s also a great idea to include community-building activities where your guests can interact with each other and those from the community that they may not know. This interaction creates a sense of togetherness and it feels good! And if all seems too overwhelming, don’t forget to have that peach-colored comfort corner where attendees can take a step and breathe. May a Peach Bellini will do the trick too!
Artistic Food Displays
I adore incorporating artistic aspects into food. For example, our big sister Bright Ideas produced an event that involved carving fruits and vegetables into beautiful flower shapes. The entire event concept was centered around guests arriving at the “Garden of Eatin'” and picking their food from a living buffet into their own wicker basket. It was fun, interactive, and a great way to make a memorable event truly unique.
Personalization Onsite
Attendees love to feel special, never forget that! One way to make a lasting impression on your guests is to offer something personalized such as luggage tags, letter openers and bookmarks onsite at events.
Providing them with a customized souvenir of your event will always bring back memories of their experience!
Portrait Studio for Professional Photos
Let’s face it, not all of us have the time or energy to visit a professional studio for photoshoots. However, when it comes to an event, you’d naturally want to look your best. Why not seize the opportunity to have your portrait taken right there at the event? It’s a fantastic way to give something special back to your guests!
Moreover, it’s a chance to finally update that outdated LinkedIn profile picture from a decade ago with a fresh and impressive one, presenting yourself as a true professional who keeps their online presence up to date!
Ethical and Sustainable Corporate Gifts
Last but not least, what’s important is being eco-sustainable. I can’t stress this enough. Invest in ethical and eco-friendly practices, making your goody bags green. By doing so, you’re spreading a positive message, and your guests get something eco-friendly to take home. Keep up with industry changes and stay ahead by setting an example. I love being a trendsetter where I can!
